New to Hōjicha?

Hōjicha is a unique Japanese roasted green tea that's smooth, toasty, and naturally low in caffeine. Unlike most Japanese green teas that are steamed, hojicha is roasted over high heat which gives its signature warm aroma, reddish-brown colour, and mellow flavour.

Its roasted process brings out rich, comforting flavours without bitterness, so it’s very approachable for people who might find regular green tea or matcha too grassy or astringent. Hōjicha can be enjoyed hot or cold, and its unique aroma makes it distinct from any other tea.

LOW IN CAFFEINE

Naturally low caffeine makes it ideal for evenings or those sensitive to caffeine.

RICH IN ANTIOXIDANTS

Like other green teas, it contains catechins that help protect cells from oxidative stress.

AIDS DIGESTION

The roasting process gives it a warming, soothing quality that can help digestion after meals.

PROMOTES RELAXATION

The toasty aroma and gentle flavour can have a calming effect, reducing stress and supporting mindfulness.

SUPPORTS HYDRATION

Hōjicha is a flavourful way to stay hydrated without sugar or additives.

NATURALLY LOW IN BITTERNESS

Easier on the stomach than some other green teas, making it a comfortable daily drink.

Mastercrafted Hōjicha from Shiga

Over 1,200 years ago, tea farming began in the fertile hills of Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Nestled in Tsuchiyama – a region famed for its pristine water and rich soil – our hōjicha is roasted by the only tea master in Japan dedicated solely to this craft.

Every small batch is carefully roasted to create a deep aroma, rich flavour, and naturally low caffeine profile. This isn’t just tea – it’s history in a cup.
